GRASS 7 planning: trunk and branches management

General plan

• GRASS 6.3.0 has been released from the releasebranch_6_3 branch
• a new develbranch_6 branch has ben created (for access, see here)
• a new releasebranch_6_4 branch will be created from that in near future
• trunk has become GRASS 7.0.svn, it will be drastically restructured

GRASS 6.2 releases

• Release scope: maintenance mode (no native winGRASS support, no wxgrass)
• For access, see here
• An update to 6.2.4 is not planned unless a really nasty bug is found.
• Status: sleeping

GRASS 6.3 releases

• Release scope: technology preview (with native winGRASS support and installer, wxgrass preview)
• Fix ​open bugs if there is interest

• An update to 6.3.0 is not planned unless a nasty bug is found.
• Status: sleeping

GRASS 6.4 releases

• Release scope: new stable release (with native winGRASS support stable, with wxgrass stable)
• fix ​open GForge and relevant ​RT bugs
• fix ​open trac bugs
• evaluate, test, and apply ​available patches
• new documentation and translation efforts will happen in the 6.4 branch (for access, see here)
• wxgrass development will continue for now in the develbranch_6 branch and subsequent release branches
• Status: ongoing

GRASS 7 implementation

• Release scope: complete demolition and reconstruction (new display architecture, new raster library, new ...)
• The SVN trunk corresponds to GRASS 7 (for access, see here)
