LAEA with custom spherical ellipsoid

Description
Eusoils @ JRC distributes GISCO database as shapefiles with a specific projections as detailed in
http://eusoils.jrc.ec.europa.eu/gisco_dbm/dbm/home.htm
In order to properly create a location it is required adding manually a new custom sphere with a 6378388 radius to the ellipse.table file. It would be nice adding it permanently in the standard file.

I have tried with this dataset (converted to SHAPE): http://www.eea.europa.eu/data-and-maps /data/soil-type and do not manage to reproject it correctly to, say, EPSG 3035 (EU-LAEA) using the indicated custom sphere with a 6378388 radius.
