#702 new defect

nviz: points with attributes broken

Reported by: helena Owned by: grass-dev@…
Priority: major Milestone: 6.4.6
Component: Tcl/Tk NVIZ Version: 6.4.0 RCs
Keywords: Cc:
CPU: All Platform: All

Description

NVIZ visualization of points with attributes in GRASS65 (tested on RH linux, compiled from source) and in GRASS64 on MSWindows - (the latest stand alone installer) and GRASS64 Mac installer appears to be broken. I tried with nc_spm schools_wake (attributes capacity, mobile units) and firestations (pumps) and for color the rendered color is black, although some points are colored, but it is a different color than the one given in the GUI. Size turns to flat, both for Auto and for various values of custom. It looks like scaling between the actual values > classes > size or color does not work properly. It works in GRASS63 - what has changed? Maybe the modifications in NVIZ GUI broke it?

Is this "my" problem as well? Working with latest grass-6.4.0svn, I can't get any logical "scaling" or "coloring".

Attribute dependent vector rendering in nviz is a huge hack. It was broken by somebody who was fixing other things, that where broken by attribute dependent rendering. There are changes in this area in trunk - OGSF now has a proper mechanism how to set styling, still there's no GUI code for it. Replying to neteler:

Is this still an issue?

As I had no time to work on it, and nobody else has stepped to do it, yes.
